Who am I?
I am a composer from the Netherlands. Ever since I was a little kid, I was inspired by the works of legendary composers like John Powell, Michael Giacchino, Hans Zimmer and especially Tomohito Nishiura. I wanted to make music that moved people so badly, that I made a career oud of it.
Later in life, I became influenced by composers Mathieu Lamboley, Austin Wintory, Yasunori Nishiki and Masafumi Takada (and many more).
Under the name MartyDB, I have created music for different Dutch theatre plays, including (but not limited to):
A retelling of the Salem Witchtrials (called Heksenjacht)
A soft remake of the hit Musical RENT (called Geen Cent)
A Monty Python inspired play (called Tussen Vecht en Veer)
I also scored two shortmovies:
De Perfecte Vreemdeling (The Perfect Stranger)
Zinloos Vennootschap (literally: Pointless Company)
I became a nominee with my score for Dies Heksenjacht
Imagine a small overly Christian American town in the 17th Century. All is good. But it’s the 17th Century. Witchcraft is a deadly sin. And that deadly sin seems to take over in Salem. HEKSENJACHT is a play about the Salem Witch Trials. Everyone in Salem blames anyone for being a witch solely because of mass hysteria. This track embodies the mystery of the town, the sinful playfulness of a few girls who started it all.
